Today’s church teaches that a simple prayer telling Jesus that you are a sinner and asking Him to come into your heart is all that is required to be saved. Oh yea, be sure you repent! Now that you have done that you are now a member of the Once Saved Always Saved group of Christians.

The problem with that process of salvation is that it’s not Biblical, and it creates weak Christians. Many Christians saved under that false doctrine of Salvation, will walk away or give up on their Faith when trials and tribulations come their way. So, what is the Biblical way of salvation? It’s a Two-Part Process. This process is explained in detail in another article. Please take the time to stop and read the Biblical way of salvation. The document will open in a new tab, so you won’t lose your place in this article. I promise you, it is an interesting article and it will change how you pray and walk with God. It is located at this this link, please click here.

To finish this article, I must provide the short version of the Two-Part Process. If you go this route, I sincerely and prayerfully ask you to read the full version of the Two-Part Process. The problem with the salvation process of today’s church is it states by simply saying a simple sinner’s prayer you are once and for all saved. However, that claim contradicts so many verses in the Bible it’s wonder any serious Christian would believe it. The Bible clearly has verses that say you can lose the opportunity for eternal life in heaven and it clearly states that a person cannot lose their salvation. And NO, they do not create contradictions. How can that be?

The Bible states that you must work out your salvation and Paul described the work as a race. During the race you must endure and persevere all trials and tribulations. If you do not endure and persevere, you will not finish the race and therefore will not enter Heaven. Instead, you will hear the words Jesus states in Matthew 7:21-23

  • 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
  • 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
  • 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

You see, when you acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus to save you, you are re-born into a new person. You are given the Holy Spirit and a new heart. You are now able to enter into the race. Upon finishing the race, you will have eternal salvation and the verse that says:

  • 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
  • 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
  • 30 I and my Father are one. John 10:28-30 King James Version (KJV)

becomes true.

Once you understand the Two-Part Process to salvation, many other doctrines become clearer, like predestination, sanctification, grace and faith, endurance, perseverance, running the race and many others. You can’t grasp a clear understanding of the Bible without a clear understanding of Salvation.

Let me show you how it will change and empower your prayer life. This morning I was praying using my prayer database and I came upon these verses:

  • Eze 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
  • Eze 36:27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

I believe in the power of praying God’s Word back to Him, what better way to know you are praying according to His Will? So, prior to understanding the Two-Part Process of Salvation, I wrote the following years ago in my prayer database based on the two verses above.

  • Ezekiel 36:26 Give to me a new heart, and spirit please remove my rock-hard heart and replace it with one that’s sensitive to you.
  • Eze 36:27  Put Your spirit within me, and cause me to walk in Your statutes, and I shall keep Your judgments, and do them.

This morning with a new understanding of the Two-Part Process, I had to change my prayer. I already had a new heart and spirit and God took away my hard heart when I was reborn into a new life as a Christian many years ago. Can you see, without the correct understanding of Salvation, you continue to ask for something God has already given you? You stay an infant in the Word because you keep confirming it by praying for things you already have. You contradict your own Faith! My database looks like this now:

  • Ezekiel 36:26 Give to me a new heart, and spirit please remove my rock-hard heart and replace it with one that’s sensitive to you.
  • Eze 36:27  Put Your spirit within me, and (You) cause me to walk in Your statutes, and I shall keep Your judgments, and do them.

I already have His Spirit and so I can claim His Word and even ask for His help to overcome my flesh, so I can keep His judgments’ and do them.

With my new understanding (the Truth), I have a new sense of being in a race not just wondering around aimlessly haphazardly trying under my own power to live a life of a Christian. I actually have to be continually aware that I am in a race and because of it I have a stronger walk with God. It’s incredible the Truth will really set you free. I beg you to please read the article Two-Part Process to Salvation. It will change your Christian walk with God, so you can one day hear Jesus say, “welcome to Heaven my good and faithful servant” you are now eternally saved once and for all for you ran a race with Faith, endurance and perseverance! Hug!
